Neuroscience Antibodies
Neuroscience is a very large field of study dealing with the nervous system. The nervous system is comprised of central and peripheral components of which the main organ in charge of regulation is that of the brain. Other organs involved include the eyes, ears, sensory organs of taste and smell, and receptors located in skin, joints, and muscles. Neurotransmitters are chemicals used in the brain to transmit signals across synapses between neurons. Hormones are chemical messengers used in areas other than the brain to transmit signals between tissues. Neuroscience antibodies encompass a wide array of antibodies used for applications in all of neuroscience. These antibodies are valuable tools in neuroscience research. These antibodies are used for isolating, characterizing, and localizing target proteins.
The anti-aromatase antibody binds against aromatase. Aromatase is instrumental in the formation of aromatic estrogens from androgens. A certain type of defect in aromatase causes aromatase excess syndrome in which estrogen is produced in excess. Another type of defect in aromatase causes the opposite effect known as aromatase deficiency syndrome. This more rare and is characterized by fetal androgens not being converted into necessary estrogens. This causes the mother to exhibit excessive hair growth which immediately disappears after giving birth. Female babies affected are somewhat hermaphroditic and eventually grow into adult women suffering from delayed puberty, incomplete breast development, multicystic ovaries, and the absence of menses. Anti- ezrin antibody targets ezrin. Ezrin is a protein expressed in many areas of the brain a well as in the optic nerve. It is involved in forming connections between plasma membranes and cytoskeletal structures.
